The Hoplite Equipment List:
Aspis (shield): Inaccurately referred to as a Hoplon. Diameter 90/95cm.
Cuirass: linen linothorax or bronze/brass muscled cuirass.
Kranoi: Helmet which is compulsory and will come complete with horsehair (or suitable alternative) crest.
Chiton: A type of tunic to be worn under armour and fought in, (plus one to be kept reasonably smart).
Sandals: (acceptable styles available on request).
Sword: Xliphos or Kopis style sword (must be historically accurate).
Dory: All Hoplites must carry a spear of 7'3" to 9' in length with a small leaf-bladed spearhead, and a bronze Souroter (butt spike) of about 38cm in length.
Felt or wool pilos: Type of hat to be worn under your helmet (to prevent it wearing a hole in your head).
Thassalian hat: Recommended historically accurate hat (again not compulsory, but useful to wear whilst not in armour/fighting).
Himation: Compulsory cloak, dark red in colour.
